"The system is wrong. I am ashamed to be an american. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools."
This source come from former american soldier Bowe Bergdahl. Bowe Bergdahl was a U.S soldier who was held captive by the Taliban for nearly five years, where he was allegedly beaten and tortured. This source was the last email written to his parents before his capture. In the letter he shows his feelings towards the U.S when he says that they had become numb to their surrounding and he shows his anger toward the failure of leadership. This source is useful as it shows us a perspective from a unique perspective and in a different light. The value and limitation that this source has is that it is written in a moment of anger, which shows the true and raw feeling but might be overplayed or amplified.

This source shows pictures of 3 Afghan school girls receiving first aid care after being allegedly poisoned by the Taliban in 2012. This source is written years after the Taliban were driven out of government by the americans. However in this picture it was never proven to have actually been the Taliban poisoning these girls but it does show the dynamics between the two parties even thereafter as the Afghan government immediately accused them to have been involved. The limitations to this source is that it doesn't show us the objective facts and is written by an american which would not give us a concrete primary source as it does not come from someone who was actually there but it also is not someone writing further in the future.

"This war will not end
The stakes are far too high
A few friends are gone already
How many more will die?"
This source is from american soldier Alex Cockers. The poem was written on the last day of Cockers deplyments in Afghanistan. The poem portrays the emotions he felt at the time looking arround his surroundings. he see the horror that has come out of the war and talks about if it will ever truly end. This source is valuble in the sense that it comes from a primary perspective and that it come from an american perspective in a negative light as opposed to an Afghan perspective. The limitations this source has, is that it doesnt state the exact date and could have been written in a moment of sadness where the author could not objectivly look at the broader picture which could also be a value as it shows his objective surroundings at the time.

Afghanistan occupation map.
These sources are three maps of Afghanistan in 2001 within the war period. The sources show us Afghanistans occupational staus within the first few months of the war. In the maps you see that the American troops were able to seize Kabul fairly quickly, which allows the audience to ask themselves how they were able to achieve this in such a short span of time and yet they stayed in Afghanistan so long. The sources accuratly show us the time and location however the maps were made after 2001 making it a secondary source and not as reliable but allows us to look back objectivley on the events that took place.

"Continue the war if you will," he wrote. "The path to security is for you to lift your oppression from us."
This letter is a letter written from Osama Bin Laden to the U.S goverment in 2007. The letter shows us Al Qaeda's views and perspective on the matter of the war. We see this especially when he reiterates facts like that war was only supposed to take 6 days and that he is now writing the letter 6 years later. The source shows us Al Qaeda's views through its leaders, which often represents his followers and tells us what their plans are. The letter shows us Al Qaeda's perspective when he gives us the warning when he states "Peace to all those who follow our guidence." The limitiations this source has is that it is a translation from the actual source, therefore we do not know the exact words that were said and that it come from one person from Al Qaeda and not multiple.

Taliban Rules, Decrees, Laws and Prohibitions
Original List of Prohibitions and Decrees, Afghanistan, 1996
This source shows the Laws imposed by the Taliban in 1996 which is when they first came into power. This source shows us the extents that the Taliban went to when imposing laws on the citizens and women especially. Things like how women were not allowed to leave their home with what would be considered stylish clothing or too much cosmetics, or that they weren't allowed to listen to music. The value of this source is that it shows us how the Taliban viewed the Islam and how they thought Afghanistan should have been run, which allows us to step back and see how that impacted their actions. The limitations of this source is that it shows the laws from 1996, however since then the laws had changed and more were added, however I don't feel that that this being a Taliban view point limits the source as it is a primary perspective and allows us to accuratly see what the laws and prohibitions were at the time.

Night letters
This letter was written by the Taliban in 2010 after they blew up an all girls school. Night letters were written by the Taliban to intimidate their rivials. This source is valuble in the sense that it is written by the Taliban and we therefor gives us a primary perspective. It tells us what their opinions are and allows us to see where they are coming from.
you are working with the government. We Taliban warn you to stop working for the government otherwise we will take your life away. We will kill you in such a harsh way that no woman has so far been killed in that manner. This will be a good lesson for those women like you who are working. The money you receive is haram (forbidden under Islam) and coming from the infidels. The choice is now with you.

This source come from the New York Times, one of the U.S's , most famous news papers one the 12th of September 2001, just one day after the infamous 9/11 attacks. This source shows us the immediate responses to the attacks and informs people on the events that occurred. The source shoes George W. Bush's stand point on the conflict especially when he states that he "vows to exact punishment on evil" this is useful to us in the past and now as it foreshadows the war that occurred just a few weeks before. This is also a primary source so we know that the information is accurate. The downsides to this source is that it only comes from an american perspective. We don't get to see what Al Qaeda's immediate response was and it being an american news source it would be considered biased.

Taliban Burning Music tapes
This source shows the Taliban burning music tapes in Afghanistan. This source is showing us the extents the Taliban went to to show their beliefs, in their version of the islam, and shows us how they take away peoples simple rights and pleasure due to those beliefes. We are truly able to see the event that took place from a primary perspective. This source is valuble as it is a live action shot, it is a real occurance and not staged. However this source is has its downfalls as it does not tell us who took this picture or when it was exaclty taken. Therefor it does not allows us to know if it is biased, which can also be seen a benefit as you simply look at the picture instead of who is taking it.
